Countless Moments, One Community: Our 2024–2025 Annual Report Is Here

For 25 years, the Intergenerational Schools have nurtured individuality, curiosity, and community across generations. Our 2024–2025 Annual Report, themed “25 Years. Countless Moments”, celebrates the people, partnerships, and learning experiences that continue to shape that legacy.

Each moment within our classrooms and community adds up to something greater. Every student who finds their voice, every volunteer who shares their wisdom, every teacher who builds confidence and curiosity—they all are part of the fabric that makes our schools thrive. This year’s Annual Report covering the 24-25 school year is a celebration of that collective story, one defined not only by achievement, but also by connection and purpose.

Across both campuses, the results speak for themselves. Near West Intergenerational School earned 4.5 stars overall for the second consecutive year on the state report card, and ranked #3 out of 107 Cleveland schools, while TIS–East saw steady growth, improving from 1 to 3 stars in Gap Closing and reducing chronic absenteeism by 15.8%. TIS-East also outperformed ten of eleven closest public schools (district and charter) on just about every literacy measure. These outcomes reflect not only strong academics, but the everyday commitment of our staff, families, and partners who believe in each student’s potential.

Yet test scores and data tell only part of the story. Inside this report, you’ll find the moments that matter most and are central to our mission—the joy of discovery, the collaboration across ages, and the innovative learning experiences that make our school experience unlike any other.

At Near West, the student-run Tea Shop celebrated its fifth anniversary, providing students real-world lessons in teamwork, entrepreneurship, and communication. Mrs. McAllister’s class shored up their operations manual, worked on training an incoming set of leaders, and hosted a Tea Ceremony to highlight all of what they learned together as small business owners. At TIS–East, students led interactive lessons for classmates, families, and local partners during the school’s Earth Day Fair, showcasing their understanding of climate and community stewardship. Each of these stories reflects our belief that when learning is personal, purposeful, and shared, it creates a lasting impact.

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we extend heartfelt gratitude to the educators, families, partners, and supporters who have made this milestone possible. Together, we’ve created more than just schools; we’ve built a community where individuality is valued, learning is lifelong and experiential, and every moment contributes to a brighter future.
